During Covid-19 lockdown and recovery, children in the UK are spending more time indoors. The health impact of the air within homes and schools, particularly on vulnerable children and young people, must be considered in households during lockdown, households shielding and when bringing schools and day care facilities back into operation.
Prior to the Covid19 pandemic, King’s Health Partners had already been engaging with health professionals and teachers regarding concerns about the amount of time some children in Lambeth and Southwark spent indoors during the summer holidays due to unsatisfactory environments. Due to Covid19 and lockdown restrictions these concerns have been exacerbated and include the increased exposure to pollutants and poor indoor air quality.
